3.0L failure

I purchased my 2025 AT4 3.0L ABOUT 45 DAYS AGO and it has 3110 miles on it. 10 days ago while idling down a friends driveway , it shut down with no noises or dash lights. would not crank at all. so i called roadside assistance they towed it to the nearest dealer. it took them 5 days to let me know the engine had locked up. the last i heard from the dealer GM still hadn't approved the claim for a new engine. According to another service manager these replacement engines are 3 to 6 months out. At this point it looks like i'm going to have to wait the 30 days and make GM buy it back. but now im tasked wit a decision of do i trust GM enough to get another 3.0L
 
Welcome! Sorry to hear of the bad news.. I would love to know what happen with that motor.. on the bright side, better it happens now then down the road.

Did they say what codes it has?
Sucks on a brand new truck. I also have a 25 AT4 3.0. I have around 8500 miles on mine and so far it’s been flawless.
 
yes same post different forum. im just looking for imfo/ help on my next decision on replacement of this truck. its not looking like there is going to be a replacement engine available any time soon. the codes that the dealership printed out are , lost communication with trans, power steering, BCM,central gateway module, BSM,and ECM. they tell me that the main breaker tripped when i tried to restart truck. im currently 14 days into my 30 day wait on repair of the truck. after 30 days ill start the buyback process with GM. then i have to decide what to do . my choices are prity slim from what i have found. the v8 gas engines are having as much or more problems. any insight would be appreciated.

Have you looked into the 6.6 HD trucks?
 
I am looking at the 2500 hd with the 6.6. it seems to be the only engine that doesnt have major issues as of now. I just hate the price jump between the 1500 and the 2500.
 
I currently daily drive about 80 miles a day, 3 days a week. that's why I don't have the 2500. I love the looks and size (and of course power).. but for me a 1500 fits better right now. I do think sometime next year I'll eventually trade up and back into a 2500. I do have a smaller tractor and situations where I could use a 2500, but I do fine with out.
 
I drive about 85 miles roundtrip daily for my commute 5 days a week. I don't see myself ever moving up to a 2500 or 3500. Been there done that. I have the best of both worlds now. I have a truck, and it gets reasonably good fuel mileage. Although we're not campers, it's our road trip vehicle.
