That’s a great question. Let me go check the closest thing to a schematic of the system I’ve found which is the early release bulletin to the techs back in 2019.
I was under the impression it’s routed to the compressor intake which basically is using vacuum at low boost or idle to pull pcv...
Checked my intake and it’s clean. Has a tiny bit of condensation but I had a quick short trip and it went from about 45 this morning to 90 this afternoon so no worries there. I was really surprised how clean it was… 11k miles and no catch can for me. I would imagine if I was getting a...
My friend ordered his 21 Ltz in March also and the dealer said it was accepted the day or 2 before the lm2 shutdown release came out. This week he was just given notice that the build date is suppose to be 10/11/2021. He then confirmed it’s still a lm2 and they said yes
Nice. I filled Saturday afternoon at 10500. So since new I’ve kept track of my def consumption and it’s been
700 miles - 1 gallon exactly “pump”
2500 miles- 2.5g jug
5600 miles 2.5g jug
10500 4.3gallon “pump”
so that’s nearly exactly 1000mpg.m average which I’m really happy with
I’m really getting temped to add a catch can and bypass.
some of these Uoas show relativity high metal. Compared to all the bigger diesels. And I had heard a few people took off the intake pipe by the CAC and it was already full of oily residue
I’ve looked as well with the same concern. Worst case is drop the tank or try and get some real small hose all the way to the tank from the filler.
I havnt been able to find a schematic for the stuff (pump maybe?) mounted under the cover on the bottom of the tank to see if that’s a easy way to...
I’ve been super busy and logged out for a few weeks .but that’s awesome your bypass filter is cleaning so well. Being that we have the low pressure EGR it must not bring to much soot back into the oil if your keeping up on it. That makes me want to get one.. pull a UOA out already so we can see...
We do have a centrifugal oil sperator like the 6.6 does I believe John barra stated in one of his videos... but it’ll be interesting to see how our intakes look when people start getting 60+k miles on them.
Sure sounds like the ecu/ground issue a handful of the Silverado’s have been plagued with. The trailboss Facebook page has countless stories of those type of symptoms.
It sure appears the rear main leak is popping up on a handful of trucks. I asked my dealer and they hadn’t had one yet in for that. Bummer and hopefully it’s just a bad batch of improper install or faulty seals. I’ve been keeping an eye on mine. Totally dry at 3500 miles
I assume yours is not consuming any?
i did 750
Miles between Friday- Sunday. And I didn’t loose any. But that’s brand new oil so who’s to say when it has 3k on it it won’t consume a little
