No I have not.
They (gm) did some "improvements" for the '24's. Maybe the 'improvements" weren't!
Are you saying your Dad's dealer has 500 of them down, or gm customers, nationwide?
You could also have them look at Bulletin 22-NA-027 and see if your camshaft cover serial number falls into a bad design.
See attached bulletin. You could inspect it yourself.
I believe it a combination of things, temp and speed. But the ecm at the end of the day. There is a plastic motor mounted on the left radiator support, that opens and closes the louvers, sorry, shutters.
If'n you have something like the launch, it has the ability to command them open and closed...
I have heard this before, but the guy lost his engine, towing. Dealer couldn't find the problem. I asked him if'n they looked at the damn louvers, to see if they opened.
He responded back a few days later that was the issue and couldn't believe they didn't check them, being at the dealer...
Yes. I felt the same way. Make sure you lube the o-ring good with fuel and use a six-sided socket.
I bought 3 housings on Amazon from iJFJ for my trucks. No issues with them.
I agree with the ease with filter replacement, but was more impressed with how easily it was to prime.
