Hello. I am thankful for this group to possibly troubleshoot an issue. I have a 2021 I6 that now has 99k miles. At about 70k miles, I had a service engine soon light appear and a message advising that power was reduced. I noticed that the fans stayed running and the temperature would fluctuate between 210 to 245. It would wildly go between the two temps. It went away on it's own back then but now it is back again.

There is no thermostat from what I read. No fluid leaking. I did notice during the entire life of the truck, I would catch a whiff of antifreeze odor but there was no leaks on the ground nor anywhere in the engine bay.

Does anyone know of a sensor that would need replaced or any other ideas. Thanks in advance!

If you can smell antifreeze, you have a leak somewhere. It may be small and probably evaporates when it comes into contact with a hot engine part. Have had this happen to me on previous trucks. One was where it leaking from a valve cover bolt hole of all places. Defect in the engine which required it be replaced by GMC. The other was a Ford where it was dripping from a weep hole on the water pump.

Your leak probably requires a more thorough check in areas you can't readily see from just opening the hood or looking underneath.

Do you know the engine light code.

Sounds like the, "to be famous", coolant control valve.

And forgive manners, Welcome!
