Hello all,

I have been looking around the forums for the past couple of days browsing for information on some of the trucks that I have been looking at to see what trouble I may be in for, what I need to look out for during a test drive, and basic information moving forward in the process going further. I currently am looking at 3 different trucks. A 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 RST with 55k miles, a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT with 97k miles, and a 2023 GMC Sierra SLT with 33k miles. All 3 trucks are $42,000 but have slightly different features. The 1500LT and RST already have all terrain tires mounted on the vehicles where the GMC would have street profile tires. I'll be using the truck mainly for moving construction material out of the bed and hauling my fiance's things to my house once we finally get married and she moves in with me. Then it will be used as a general purpose truck/commuter/response rig for fire/EMS. Any wisdom or information yall would impart on me for this purchase I'm about to make?

Thanks,

Why would you even consider Chevys over the GMC Sierra? It has fewer miles and a better engine (LZO vs LM2). You can always mount different tires if you want in the future, although be prepared for less MPG with AT tires vs all season tires.

It really was going to end up coming down to the difference in dealerships essentially, in my opinion. I’ve been trying to do my due diligence on research and wasn’t able to determine when the engine change occurred from the LM2 to the LZ0.

I also found a 2021 GMC Sierra for 10 grand less but it has the LM2. After going to the dealership where the 2023 with the LZ0 was at they tried to increase the price of the vehicle by double. At least based on their “finance stipulations” I’ll be going to the dealership with the 2021 sierra that was priced as 32k
