    Engine Accelerates On Its own

Interesting theory. The regen sprays more diesel into the catalytic converter(?), not into the cylinders. That would lower the instant MPG. Not sure if it would affect performance, but my guess is that performance would be less if anything (typical with most SMOG controls).

    Engine Accelerates On Its own

I bought it pre-owned from a Chevy dealer in January 2022 with 26,000 miles, still under factory warranty. As far as I can tell, the previous owner only added a 1”-2” lift so he could put slightly larger wheels on it, and retractable running boards. I don’t use hill descent since it only rides...

    Engine Accelerates On Its own

I have a 2020 Silverado LTZ Z71 with the LM2 engine. A couple of weeks ago I actually took it out and drove a forest service road that needed high ground clearance and 4-wheel low in order to negotiate some rocky areas. I was in 4-wheel low and geared down to L1. As I'm walking over the rocks...

    Infotainment 3 Premium

We bought a pre-owned 2020 Silverado LTZ Z71 3.0 Diesel from a dealer. According to the opinions listed on the CarFacts we were given, it has an Infotainment 3 Premium with navigation system. In the apps there is a Traffic icon that’s greyed out (capable, but not enabled?). We’re trying to...

    STUPID is as stupid does

Just a idea, don’t know it’s a good one or not. My guess is that the fuel additive is less dense than water (will float on top of water. Since DEF is mostly water, what about slowly overfilling the DEF tank so that the fuel treatment gets pushed out the fill hole? Any thoughts?

Extended crank but no start issue

2020 Silverado LTZ 3.0 Diesel. Had same problem along with a bunch of other random issues. All under warranty. 9/2/22 DIC “Service Emmisions System”, and “174 miles until 65MPH max speed”. DEF level at about 1/3 full. 9/8/22 intermittent jolts while doing 65-70 mph. Feels similar to running...

Received message today 171 miles until speed reduced to 65mph with 5,395 miles on my 2021 GMC Sierra Denali 3.0 Diesel.

They didn't say anything about it. I do remember hearing about or reading about a tech bulletin regarding something about a wiring harness issue, but I don't remember where it was. The truck has had the trans rebuilt, then replaced with a rebuilt trans, then replaced with a new trans (mechanical...

Sorry about the delayed follow-up. After I took the truck back to the dealer (see my previous posts on Oct 3, 2022), Chevy finally figured out what the problem was and has fixed it (so far so good). The big key to diagnosing the problem was that, during that week-long trip pulling a travel...

One thing I’ve noticed in many posts in this thread and my own experience is the “17x miles before 65 mph max” message that we’re wanting to jump to the conclusion (assume) that it’s attributed to low DEF level (maybe because we read about a similar message sequence that was related to DEF in...

Sorry, don’t remember the brand (truck came with them). Update: Headed home with running boards disconnected. Pulling TT, 55 mph, 7th gear, 1800 rpm, cruise control, tow-haul mode, slight grade on interstate, registering about 14 mpg (truck isn’t working too hard). Slight drop in power and...

    Excessive oil consumption?

Well, with power running boards disconnected, had the same problems as before (even so much as the engine getting shut down while negotiating a freeway interchange. Was able to baby it home. Taking to a local GMC dealer today.

Dealer found possible cause of spurious codes. Got the truck back today. Since there were so many P codes (some were a little out in left field) and that there were several U codes (vehicle communication network), and the DEF DIC indication that happened at the same time, they zeroed in on the...

    Excessive oil consumption?

Got the truck back today. Since there were so many P codes (some were a little out in left field) and that there were several U codes (vehicle communication network), they zeroed in on the possibility that the powered running board system (3rd party system installed by previous owner that plugs...

    Mileage with/without stop/start

On a recent trip pulling a trailer, we stopped at a grocery store to get stuff for our next campground. It was hot and we travel with our cat, so I stayed in the truck with the engine running for the AC (engine stop is disabled while in tow haul mode) while my wife did the shopping. The current...

DEF can I drain the tank?

DEF degrading when over 80 (degrees Fahrenheit I presume). My stepson said that there is a problem with Blu DEF brand DEF causing problems and codes when used in GM vehicles in the Southwest (So CA, AZ, NM, west TX, 100°+ several months of the year with 20% humidity). DEF “calcifies” and coats...
