Not feeling good about the PF66 filter

Are you planning on sending your oil in for particle size analysis? Just curious.

Not feeling good about the PF66 filter

You’re not concerned about the filter hanging down so low (below the frame rail)? Oil should be clean after 3-400 miles if it’s doing what they say it is. Amsoil‘s youtube video it clears up in like 1 minute.

Not feeling good about the PF66 filter

The only guys that I know that make a kit specifically for the 3.0 is insane diesel. They have a tee that they put in place of the pressure sensor and then relocate the pressure sensor. Looks like a decent kit, but seems insanely expensive to me…...

Not feeling good about the PF66 filter

What size are you using for a restriction orifice and where are you positioning it (or is it built into the bypass mount somewhere)?

Not feeling good about the PF66 filter

That’s why I’m interested in your results. The Frantz cellulose filter is also supposed to be good down to 2 microns so it should have filtered out the black soot. The jet black oil drives me a little nuts too, especially right after an oil change but I’ve come to accept it at this point in time…

Not feeling good about the PF66 filter

I’m curious to know if the bypass actually keeps it any cleaner “looking”.… because I read this review (second review is a 2016 Dodge Ecodiesel) complaining it didn’t do anything: https://www.hotshotsecret.com/universal-frantz-bypass-oil-filter-kit/

Not feeling good about the PF66 filter

Keep us posted. I was hoping that Frantz (now owned by hot shot secrets) would have released a bypass kit similar to to the 6.6 for the 3.0 by now… but those guys are F’n useless. Emailed them like 4 times about it and nothing but crickets!

The EAO26 filter in your pic, are you using that the replace the small stock GM PF66 filter?

    STUPID is as stupid does

If it was my vehicle, I would just drop the tank. They are not that big or too difficult to remove I don’t think based on looking at it. That way you can get a good flush/clean and ensure it’s all good. Just my 0.02.

    Fuel cap mod

I think this was just a coincidence. As some have said, there is a vent hole at the top of the filler neck tube and this is where it will spill out. Did you just fill your tank and maybe overfill it a little too much? Or try to add gas from a jerry can without the GM supplied emergency funnel? I...

Received message today 171 miles until speed reduced to 65mph with 5,395 miles on my 2021 GMC Sierra Denali 3.0 Diesel.

That would do it, if they pulled the engine… Lots of potential for damage. There were some with pinched main wire harnesses right from the factory, that’s why I was curious. There is a link on GMTechlink somewhere about it. At the end of the day, if it’s finally all resolved that is great news...

Received message today 171 miles until speed reduced to 65mph with 5,395 miles on my 2021 GMC Sierra Denali 3.0 Diesel.

When I hear these horror stories about a whole bunch of CEL codes being illuminated on people’s trucks I immediately think either wiring harness issues (ie: damage) or bad grounds! Glad they finally got yours sorted out from the sounds of it. Did they say if the harness was damaged at the...

    Power Running Boards

Here are the AMP Research boards on my truck. They are CC length boards but they also fit the double cab just fine by just sliding them a little further forward and clamping in this position.

    Power Running Boards

I have the AMP power boards (mainly because I got a KILLER deal on a used set for $800 CDN). They work great. My short wife loves them. LOL. Super easy hook up and runs off the OBD port. I bought a Banks OBD splitter to run the boards and the iDash gage. The one thing I didn’t like with the RBP...

    Catch can for the 3.0

You have to be really careful with catch cans in sub zero temps, they can really cause a lot of issues/problems and really have to be engineered right for those conditions. I have not seen any good ones at the moment, but we are all here to learn so maybe someone else has.

    Transmission issue

Cutting wires and splicing…? WTF. I’d be telling them no way Jose, replace with a new harness. Those splices will be a potential problem area in the future IMHO.

2021 Rear shocks? handling around a corner with bumps

With washboard type of bumps, and an empty bed this seems to happen. Stock Rancho shocks/setup. Apparently the Bilstein 5100‘s are a much better shock, however I can’t verify this and if it fixes this axle hop, etc. maybe in a couple years when the shocks need replaced… everyone seems to love...
