I think the reflash helped… for the most part. For my truck, it will not start on the second or third try. I have to disconnect and reconnect the battery for whatever to clear so the truck will start. I have a 10mm socket in the glovebox just in case.
Im guessing this is a computer thing. When it was trying to start it said low battery in the info screen. It mentioned something about going into battery saver mode. Thats a new one. I unplugged the negative for a minute, reconnected and the truck fired right up. It did ask me to roll the...
So….. I had the reflash done a while back and just had the extended crank, no start…. Again… tried twice in a row, no go. I unplugged negative battery lead for a minute. Tried again and it fired right up…
The urea should go back in to solution I would guess. unless the def tank is an open system and water is evaporating to cause urea to crystallize out. I hope that wouldnt be the case.
Went to my dealer to pick up a fuel filter today. $77.78. Ah… $28 bucks plus shipping at Rock Auto. Wow. I think the last fuel filter was like $40 at the dealer. Doubled in price from December 2021. Dang inflation.
They all have their problems. The new tundra and waste gate solenoid. Ram and that gawd aweful 8 speed trans not to mention the eco diesel. I also had a ‘14 Silverado with 5.3. After 70k. I burned a quart of oil every 5k. I had computer issues that locked the steering wheel in place while I was...
Maybe the LZ0 is the version that is so efficient it doesn’t need DEF…. Glad they can design a new engine but struggle to optimize their DEF system from tank to “indicator.” Just poking… I am still happy with my LM2.
Sorry to hear some people have had so many issues with their trucks. Best of luck with the ZR2. 6.2 should be a good engine. After this LM2, I don’t plan on ever owning a gas fed truck again. Time will tell. 31k miles I’m still happy.
I had a 2015 Ram Hemi. Went through 3 transmissions. Heaviest towing was 4500lb snowmobile trailer maybe 2000 miles/year. Had both exhaust manifolds replaced, one head, and a pressure sensor in the fuel tank. All in 104k miles.
Couple of YouTube videos and articles about Platinum DEF causing trucks to throw codes. There is another video that discusses a stabilizer in platinum DEF. Not sure what that stabilizer is and what it does to stabilize urea in water.
