My GM Colleagues have gotten around 35 to 40 mpg but I am nowhere near. Not even on highways.. Does having a Chevy Silverado High Country make a difference in mileage? I think not. What is the mileage you guys get from the latest trucks with LZ0 engine? My truck just drove around 1200 miles and came up with a mileage of 25 mpg. Mostly highways. Little disappointed but will watch.
The only true way to calculate accurate MPG is miles driven divided by gallons used. The various dash readouts are good for providing a general sense of efficiency. I track my mpg on every tank religiously by using the Fuelly app to track trends and to also make notes of driving conditions I encountered.
One thing I've noticed recently is how temperature can affect fuel efficiency. One day last week, I started the truck when it was 32F. I let it idle for about 20-30 seconds and started driving, making sure to not go above 1500 rpms for the first 4-5 miles. What was interesting to note is that until the transmission temperature reached 185F, it would say in 9th gear, even at 60 mph. It took about 25 miles of driving to reach normal temperature.
