Ordered an extra pair of tailgate lights to convert to footwell lights. Kit came with a wiring harness which made it like oem.

Used a bottle torch to heat the Stanley knife to "mill" the kick panels on the center console.

Wiretapping into the BCM, making the footwell lights work with cab lights. They dim down like the rest. Did not use a relay, as each light draws .7 watts.

Wiring harness was just right in length.

That's awesome, and clean.. well done!!

Where did you get the kit?

Thank you. It was well needed as the lighting in the new body style is just plain dim. Then add the black interior to the equation, the lighting sucks. Wanted to keep it somewhat oem, if I needed replacement parts. They were the factory kit #84347814. Picked them up off ebay.

The wiring harness was the easiest part, which usually on mods, need to be customized or totally manufactured. It was just the correct length to be able to connect the lights already mounted to the panels laying on the floorboard. The power supply end also reached to the BCM.

The lights come mounted in recessed plastic pockets, that fit the square holes in the upper gate. I cut the flat part out of one to use as a template to modify the kick panels.

Once I got the kits, I searched the individual part numbers. GM is reusing license plate lights off of other vehicles, which makes perfectly good sense. Attached is a picture of the lights part number.

Here is a junk yard kit, that would be just right for 45$...
