Your friend is wise. I carry one also. Damn electronic maps don't show rest stops. As a coffee consumer and over 50, I need to know where they are, on interstates. State patrol don't like it when you pull under a overpass to piss.

I also use Waze but via Android Auto. What I do not like is the pretty heavy draw on my phone's battery..
Looking into OBD Genie but the entry fee is pretty steep...

So did you bite the bullet and buy the OBD and if so is it working and do you need a onstar subscription
