Well I noticed it yesterday on my driveway.. got under the truck and it look like it was the filter, but couldn't really tell. Took it into the dealer today and they said "oil pan gasket" likely.. from my research, it's likely the front seal as well.. I'm right at 42K miles, so I should be covered under the powertrain warranty I hope.

They didn't keep it, said bring it back Tuesday of next week and they'll get started. I'll keep you guys updated.

you are correct on the two common areas there and I will add that I see more of the plugs leaking now, than the pan or cover. I am referring to the plug at the front of the engine, just above the front cover.

Well, after my oil change last week I've been monitoring, nothing else has leaked. Cancelled my appt for now, but I will keep an eye on it.

Well, it's still leaking. I'm at 50K miles now.. I'm assuming warranty is still in play here. I worry about any parts being back ordered sadly. I will likely take it back in this week.

Dropping the truck off in the morning for diagnostics to see what the issue is. It has a very, very small leak still.

Dealer called be back, said they finally got to it today (after 4 days, thanks) and said drive it a week or so. They put dye in the oil to help track the leak down it seems as they had no luck finding the source while up on the lift...

Had an oil leak on mine was the front engine oil gallery plug I re-sealed it, re-sealed it all good

I hear that plug is a common leak spot.

I went by at the end of last week, said it was a terrible time, to come back the next.. So I'll try to stop in early next week to see if they see anything from the dye.

I have a leak as well. Noticed it while on the rack during the Tranny Guy replacing my Transmission. Yep at 103,862 miles the torque converter went bad and was 300 miles away and drove it in. That new tranny cost me 6,900. What will the oil leak fix cost? Looks involved to replace just the oil pan gasket. Anyone? I say 6-700 bucks.

I bank on tucking away 10,000 dollars for replacements and repairs on GM Trucks. That has been my average on the five I have owned since 2000. Still cheaper than Dodge Ram (new engine, fuel pump, altenator) and the Ford (new engine, rear end)
I have never had engine issues with GM Trucks, just Transmissions, rear ends and Radiators. I drive 70,000 miles a year. Get new trucks when I pay them off, usually at the 400,000+ mileage range.

I went back twice to get it on the rack for the tech to see if the dye help them track the leak down, and sure enough, they were always to busy/etc. Granted, I need to get an appointment and get it back but I haven't had a drop leak in a few months now.
