Trans temps

What kind of temperatures are you guys getting? Mine unloaded just normal driving it gets to 95c (203f) and it once while towing our 6500# RV trailer, it got to 102c (215f). Both were in ~20c (70f) outside temps. I was always brought up to keep trans temps below 200f according to charts out there.

Is this the new normal? Anybody know if this trans is thermally regulated?

I was taught 180° F max. But that was in the 2 speed powerglide/turbo 350-400 days.

I was surprised at trans temp nearing coolant temps. But thats because of 160-180° F coolant days.

I have no answer to your second question.

Highway driving…175-180. In the city, I’ve seen up to 205. Towing a 4200ish lb v nose snowmobile trailer on highway at 75mph…189.

Latest I've seen is between 85-90c (185-195f) unloaded city winter driving. I have a feeling it's thermally regulated, like the later 6L80E to not run lower than that.

BTW, anybody looking to know this tranny's designation is 10L90E
